The ugliest fears reveal themselves through their daily lives, and can be more visible: fear of the unfamiliar, the fear of the other, the fear of foreigners, the fear of people of color, the fear of homosexuals, the fear of gender fluidity, the fear of the strong and independent woman, the fear of the poor and destitute. The fear of different.
At a deeper level, this includes fear of the unknown, fear of what they don't understand, fear of change, fear of losing their culture, fear of losing their attachments, fear of losing their deeply-held beliefs, fear of losing an identity, fear of invalidation, and fear of losing perceived power.
Even more deeper than that, we arrive at the fear of pain, fear of death, fear of truly knowing themselves, and the fear of becoming a true, authentic version of themselves.
All the above fears are connected; all these fears are mixed and mired with each other. All of these fears cause insecurity, hatred, and greed/envy/possessiveness, which then directly lead to behaviors and actions that create lasting damage to other human beings and this beautiful, green earth.
If one abandons the majority of these fears, particularly the deeper ones, holding on to conservative "values" or beliefs no longer makes logical sense. Conservatism without fear is pointless. Conservativism requires fear to function effectively as a belief, as "conservatism".
A truly free human does not embody these fears; in other words, fear does not inhabit your mind and the totality of your body. You've directly dealt with these fears and achieved a deep understanding of yourself and have embodied true strength. You've achieved a better version of yourself and operate at a higher spiritual vibration.
This building of strength is based on deep reflection and self-awareness. Self-compassion and love, and therefore compassion and empathy for others. You want nothing else than what you already have. There's nothing to protect, nothing to conserve. I highly recommend aiming to live this way; it's awesome!
To be transparent, as this relates to myself, I do not have a perfect mastery of all of this, yet I do seek personal growth, and I generally do not embody the majority of these fears. There's no point and it only creates problems and lasting damage.
I made the decision a long, long time ago that none of these fears serve this life, and therefore, identifying as conservative is fundamentally impossible.
